About Barry Evans
Barry Evans played at Essex Community College and Essex Maryland in his college years. He averaged 20 points per game and 10 rebounds from 1989-1991. He began to play in the A.B.A for the Fredrick Flyers from 1993-1997. Then in the winter of 1999, Mr. Evans toured the countries of Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan, Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, and Turkey playing the game of Basketball.
During the summer of 1989, Barry started his career as a part time coach under Herman Johnson at Bentalou Recreation Center. While there, he worked with kids aged 7-18 teaching the sport of basketball to local Baltimore players. He continued to coach there until 2010. From his time coaching there, he built three core rules that he taught to all of his kids. Number one was to learn how to be an active listener. Number two was to never stop remembering what you were taught yesterday. Then, Number three was to remember that there are no excuses in life.
While coaching at the Bentalou Recreation Center, Barry cared so much about these individuals that he not only helped produce basketball talent in each of them, but he also prepared them for their professional life after basketball.
